BIO

Tayo Enna has been teaching Kindergarten at STEAM@Stipe Elementary School for the past 19 years. He’s currently an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco in the Teacher Education Program. He received his Bachelor’s in Social Science, and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from San Jose State University. Tayo created and facilitates Antracist Parent Workshops for school districts to bridge communities and families together. In 2022, he developed The Young Black Scholars Club as an after school program for Black and biracial students in K-3rd grade.Tayo is Oak Grove School District’s 2021 Teacher of the Year, and recipient of the 49ers Foundation’s Teacher of the Game and Follow Your Bliss Award. His work has been featured in KQED’s Mindshift, Scary Mommy, and the Huffington Post. He is a proud member of the Edtrust West Educator Advisory Council.


WHAT TO EXPECT

Tayo speaks about his experiences working as a public-school kindergarten teacher over the last 19 years in the local San Jose area, as well as the importance and benefits of teaching ethnic studies to both students and parents early on, including the practice of empathy towards individuals from diverse backgrounds.
