BIO
Alyssa is a Clinical Nurse III for the last 11 years in the Burn Center at Santa Clara Valley Medical. Her Union positions include: RNPA Secretary Jan 2023 - June 2023 and RNPA Treasurer July 2023 - present. Her education includes: an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Evergreen Valley College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from San Jose State University, and a Master’s Degree in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner from San Jose State University.

Alyssa speaks about working as a registered nurse within the Burn Center for the last 11 years including her experiences working under demeaning and unsafe conditions, unionizing, negotiating, and striking with other nurses, and what it’s like being a part of this historical time and landscape. Alyssa also discusses her experiences of living and supporting the community throughout the pandemic, pressures from upper-management to engage in unethical medical practices, and the future of medical facilities in the local San Jose area.
