Ep# 1

Hello and welcome to the San Jo Lo Down!

We're a new up-and-coming podcast highlighting the stories of this city's bad-ass working class folks. For our first episode, we are talking about all things Education in San Jose. Giving us the Lo Down this week, we talk with East San Jose educators Alberto Camacho and Annette Gonzales Jones about the financial struggles educators face while living in Silicon Valley. We also talk with two educators trying to change our education system: Tayo Enna who sees the benefits of teaching students ethnic studies early on and Luis E. Poza, director of Institute for Emancipatory Education, whose work focuses on completely reimagining how we think about the American education system — a model of teaching adopted by many new teachers like Camacho.
